Charleston County marks historic year with $1.28B of capital investment

Over the past year, Charleston County Economic Department helped create 1,029 new jobs and generated $1.28 billion in capital investment throughout the county, according to a Charleston County news release. 

Of the 15 projects the county facilitated over 2024, Boing’s $1 billion investment stands as the largest single investment in Charleston County’s history, the release said. The milestone makes a significant mark on the county’s reputation in the aerospace and advanced manufacturing industry. 

Other projects for the county in 2024 included advanced manufacturing, digital technology and logistics, the release said.

Executive director for CCED, Steve Dykes, will make the milestone year the end of his 32-year career with the department, according to the release.  

“Ending my tenure with such historic accomplishments is deeply rewarding. Boeing’s transformative $1 billion investment, alongside the success of our other projects, highlights the collaborative spirit and unparalleled potential of Charleston County,” Dykes said. “It has been a privilege to contribute to the growth of this extraordinary community, and I look forward to witnessing its continued success.”
